Telangana’s New Govt Engineering College in Husnabad: 300 Seats, 5 Branches – Admissions Open for 2026–27

The Government of Telangana has sanctioned a new government engineering college in Husnabad, Karimnagar region – the Satavahana University Engineering College (SUCE) – with 300 seats across five branches. Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar officially released the college brochure on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, with admissions for the 2026–27 academic year already underway under college code SUCE.

The college is specifically aimed at making quality technical education accessible to students from rural North Telangana who cannot afford to relocate to cities for their BTech education.

Branches and Seat Distribution

The 300 seats are equally distributed across five branches – 60 seats each in:

  • Computer Science Engineering (CSE)
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Biotechnology

Land, Infrastructure and Funding

The state government has allocated 36 acres of land in Husnabad for the college campus and sanctioned ₹44.12 crore for the construction of buildings and hostel facilities. Since permanent construction is still underway, classes for the inaugural 2026–27 academic year will be conducted at a well-equipped local Polytechnic College campus in the interim.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar assured students that facilities during the first academic year are on par with private institutions and urged rural students not to be concerned about infrastructure. The process for constructing permanent buildings has already been initiated, he confirmed.

Once operational, the college will be equipped with:

  • Digital library and smart classrooms
  • Computer laboratories and science labs
  • Workshops and drawing halls
  • Separate hostel facilities for male and female students
  • Transportation support for students

Academic and Student Support Programmes

Beyond classroom education, SUCE has been planned with a strong focus on student development. The college will offer:

  • Experienced faculty members and career guidance programmes
  • Placement support and specialised laboratories
  • Student induction programmes and research awareness sessions
  • Faculty development initiatives and international conferences
  • Distribution of bicycles, books and calculators to students

Husnabad: Emerging as a Regional Education and Healthcare Hub

Husnabad is strategically located at the confluence of Karimnagar, Jangaon, Siddipet and Hanamkonda districts, making it a natural regional centre for students from across North Telangana. The government’s broader vision positions Husnabad as a full-fledged education and healthcare hub – alongside the engineering college, a 250-bed hospital is under construction and a PG Medical College has been sanctioned for the town.

Additional development works underway in Husnabad include an urban forest park, temple development activities, and lake beautification projects.

Expanding Government Engineering Education in Telangana

Telangana currently has 22 government engineering colleges offering 8,532 seats, against 157 private colleges with over 1.18 lakh seats. The addition of SUCE is part of the state government’s stated push to expand affordable, quality technical education in underserved regions that have historically depended entirely on private institutions.

Students seeking admission to SUCE for 2026–27 can apply through the regular TG EAPCET counselling process using college code SUCE. Use our College Directory and Courses Explorer to compare branches, fees and colleges across Telangana before finalising your web options.
