The release of the TGEAPCET 2026 Phase-1 engineering institute list by the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) marked the beginning of a major update cycle for the Telangana Engineering Colleges Directory. Rather than making routine corrections, the directory has undergone a significant architectural upgrade to support year-wise engineering admission data while preserving historical information from previous counselling years.
Collection of Official 2026 Institute Data
Following the publication of the official institute list containing 179 participating engineering colleges, each institute profile was collected and verified from the official counselling website. Every college profile was examined to identify the latest academic information, including courses offered, approved intake, tuition fee and other institutional details.
The newly collected information was then compared with the complete 2025 database to identify changes across colleges and courses.
Comparison Between 2025 and 2026
The comparison revealed several important differences:
- 179 colleges appeared in the 2026 Phase-1 counselling list compared with 182 colleges in 2025.
- 1,069 engineering courses were available during the 2026 Phase-1 counselling compared with 1,098 courses in 2025.
- A number of colleges were temporarily absent from the first phase. These institutions may participate in subsequent counselling phases and therefore have not been treated as permanently removed.
- Several colleges received Autonomous status during 2026, requiring official name updates.
- Many engineering branches experienced changes in approved intake.
- A small number of colleges revised their tuition fees for the 2026 academic session.
Complete Redesign of the Data Structure
One of the most important improvements introduced this year is the separation of historical academic data from permanent institutional information.
Previously, course intake and fee were stored directly with each course record. While suitable for a single admission year, that approach made it difficult to preserve historical information once official values changed.
The directory has now been redesigned to maintain separate datasets for each counselling year.
The upgraded system stores year-wise information for:
- Engineering course intake
- Tuition fee
- Counselling participation
- Official college names
- Autonomous status
- Phase-wise cut-off ranks
This allows historical information to remain unchanged while new counselling data can be added every year without overwriting previous records.
Year-wise Course Information
Every course page now displays information according to the academic year selected by the visitor.
For the selected counselling year, the directory displays:
- Approved intake
- Tuition fee
- Phase-wise closing ranks
This enables students to compare admission information across different years using a single course page.
Improved College Pages
College pages have also been enhanced with an Academic Year selector.
Depending on the selected year, visitors can now view:
- Courses available during that counselling year
- Year-specific intake
- Year-specific tuition fee
- Official college name where changes have occurred, including newly granted Autonomous status
This ensures that historical information remains accurate while presenting the latest official data whenever available.
Preparing for Live Counselling Updates
The upgraded architecture has also been designed to support rapid updates throughout the counselling process.
When Phase-1 allotment results are published, the directory will be able to incorporate the latest cut-off ranks without affecting information from previous years. The same framework will continue to support Phase-2, Final Phase and future counselling cycles.
A Long-Term Educational Resource
The Telangana Engineering Colleges Directory is intended to be more than a collection of college profiles. The objective is to develop a continuously maintained educational resource that preserves counselling information year after year while presenting students with accurate and transparent admission data based on official sources.
With the completion of this year’s structural upgrade, the directory is now prepared to maintain historical counselling records alongside future admission data, making it increasingly valuable for students, parents, teachers, educational counsellors and researchers studying engineering admissions in Telangana.
